We are delighted to welcome Headway East London and their members to Who Are We? Project and Tate Exchange.

Chris and Billy, self-taught artists who are a part of Headway’s brilliant ‘Submit to Love Studios’ group talk about their favourite works in the Collection.

Chris invites you to look at Jean Dubuffet’s ‘Monsieur Plume with Creases in his Trousers (Portrait of Henri Michaux)’ through his eyes.

Billy reflects on William Eggleston ‘Untitled 1970 to 1973’.

Headway East London is a local charity supporting people affected by brain injury. They offer specialist support and services to survivors and their families, whilst also campaigning for grater awareness. They also make art, music, food and culture at their Hackney hub. Their vision is to create a community where people with brain injury are valued, respected and able to fulfil their potential.

Submit to Love Studios is home to a group of mostly self-taught artists who have all survived brain injuries. They work collectively in an open environment and help bring out the best in each other. Their mission is “discovery through art”, and the studio is based at charity Headway East London in Hackney.

This talk is happening during Action for Brain Injury Week, #ABIweek
