There There

There There is a 50% Romanian, 50% Serbian performance company, founded in London by Dana Olărescu and Bojana Janković. The company’s work interrogates immigration, national identities and exclusion, and spans performance, installation and audio pieces, created for galleries, studios, and public spaces. They use participation to encourage inclusive, alternative debates on immigration among audiences whose diversity reflects the world outside art institutions. Audience development is an essential part of their creative practice: they engage with diaspora and migrant organisations, commission and conduct audience research, and make pieces which address, involve and make room for members of immigrant communities in cultural and public spaces. Their work has been developed for major institutions, including Tate Modern/Tate Exchange and the Museum of London, supported by Arts Council England (ACE), cultural and diaspora organisations (Romanian Cultural Centre), and presented at performance, Live Art, and migrant-focused festivals and venues across the UK, including at Journeys Festival International, SPILL and Experimentica.
