About the artist

Hamid Reza Yavari Shoer is a tailor and textile designer, originally from Iran and based in the UK.

Hamid creates bespoke items of clothing and accessories, working with a range of materials including screen-printed fabrics and leatherwork. Taking inspiration from ancient historical clothing, 1950s and 60s dress patterns and costume pieces, his work demonstrates an intuitive approach to how styles and designs from different contexts can be combined and reconfigured within contemporary fashion.

Hamid has established a successful tailoring and alterations business in Wakefield, working with regular clients from across the local community. In addition to this Hamid also collaborates with costume designers and visual artists, such as Helen O’Sullivan, who occupies the studio next door to his at The Art House, to design and create new works and commissions.
